December
Glimmering rays peer through the cracks in my blinds.
They collide with my eyes, blinding me.
Outside, a fresh snowfall—
iridescent powder gleams on the frozen ground.
Tangerine and pink saturate the sky,
shining just above the horizon.
The white, morning dust sheets the shivering evergreens.
I pull the strings to my Sorel’s—
They leave a fresh, crisp print in the snow.
To my left, a Cardinal sits,
perched on a naked branch.
The air moves with the swift breeze towards me—
the wind hits my rosey cheeks.
As night time takes over,
blankets of dusk conceal the gleaming, iridescent powder.
Serene fields of snow are shielded by black skies—
protected from the day’s shimmering rays.
Moonlight beams down,
reflecting off the glistening snow.
Nature falls asleep under the night sky.
