Self Worth
We grew up wearing
An ivory spray painted smile
Dripped in bleached words
Whispering white lies
We grew up dressed
In clothing that constrained
Our dignity and pride
Always being denied and defied
We grew up being told
To cover up skin for
If there was an assault
we were at fault
But
They did not grow up learning
To control urges
And to respect
Instead, we became
labeled as an object
