Reeks of Regret
White moves like a stalky waltz,
the beat of the three gray dots keeping rhythm.
I wait for it to disappear and be replaced
by a flood of black text revealing your love for me.
Sneak out with a devilish smile,
this is all I get.
Mischief smells like fresh rain on pavement,
it tastes like a first kiss in the back of a car.
I hate the smell of rain now, the taste makes me gag.
Your kiss burned like a hot ember pressed to my neck.
You were going to be my first true love,
the prince who saves me.
Love reeks of regret.
It sends chills down my spine,
your fingertips forever trapped
in writing on my skin.
White moves like a broken leg.
Each tap of the gray dots burns like fire.
