Stars
I sit in the grass
Viewing the clear nighttime sky
The stars are so bright
I dwell on the day
Scrolling through slow memories
When I remember
Our conversation
The small talk we engaged in
Earlier that day
Inconsequential
Yet I enjoyed the contact
Our sharing of words
You are so cunning
Making my heart race like this
I smile to myself
This beautiful dream
An impossible future
Never to bear fruit
Just fantasizing
About this happy ending
This is sufficient
Crystal tears falling
I put my head in my arms
To hide from the world
This cold, lonely night
I mourn for what could have been
The stars are so bright
