Sleep
My eyes, heavy with the weight of a thousand books.
My head, empty with only sounds of an echoing hallway.
Is this what I was made to do?
Sit and stare at a screen and accomplish tasks given by a higher entity that only I can wish to be one day?
I rub my eyes hoping to activate a lever in my mind saying “wake up!”
Only to close my eyes for more than a second, I end up. Lost.
In a familiar; yet unfamiliar world.
Weird and unsettling but calming.
Only to be shaken awake by the sound of an alarm;
Which rings in a pattern all too familiar.
Class starts soon, yet I am already late.
My body; still paralyzed.
My mind; still blank.
The time; passed too quickly.
The day started too fast.
Oh how I wish my sleep lasted
as long as the earth to the moon.
My eyes hold all the weight to them.
You can tell, right?
My shoulders slump; as if they are powering down for the night.
I guess that this time, it can slide.

I am always tired, if you ever meet me you will see it. Bags under my eyes stay there without paying rent! This is all about exactly that, sleep was something I just couldn't get. I had insomnia for a while, pills and medicine couldn't and still can't knock me out. But once I had one night's rest I turned into a cat whose owner isn't home; I sleep all day and all night.
