My Orange Guardian
Orange Guardian follows
With slitted eyes dogging me,
Watching like a hawk.
A flame-hued warrior,
Protective like a father,
Maternal mother.
Trailing my footsteps
Watching, watching, watching me
Like an intense birdwatcher.
I go too quickly,
I wander too distantly,
A harsh call warns me.
But I don’t listen
To those pleading cries
I tear away- free.
From my strong shepherd,
My confused attendant,
The perplexed being.
Don’t you know you’re just
My cat? I’m not your kitten!
You’re just a kitty.
