my body shudders—
my breath quivering like the
frosty and frightened

night wind—nestled in
your sinewy arms: the fear
of death escaped me

A scene in which Ernest Hemingway and Gil talk about fear and courage, in the film Midnight in Paris (watch it!), inspired this poem. You must watch it to understand it fully.
