Coming Out (His Story)
Sitting in the full room,
Feeling only impending doom.
Your family members staring at you,
Wondering what you’re about to do.
Little do they know everything is about to change,
This may cause things to be deranged.
These two words may cause a riot,
Their yelling and screaming.
“Just be quiet!”
You’re heart aches to tell them,
But you’re terrified of their condemn.
They are your world,
And at this moment you could hurl.
Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath you begin to say,
“Everyone, I’m gay.”
That sigh of relief that left your lips,
Followed by a cry that your dad let slip.
Not knowing how to react,
You took a slight step back.
“Son, I love you and whoever you chose.”
This has been a major breakthrough.
Today I stand, hand and hand,
In front of my family with my chosen man.
