The numbers do not matter
A ten year old girl no longer welcomed at school,
Nine of her friends no longer welcomed there too.
Eight deafening gunshots heard through the night,
Seven long years with her dad out of sight.
“The numbers do not matter,” he says to himself,
“The numbers do not matter, what matters is wealth.”
Six pointed star stamped hard on her chest,
Whilst five men in brown destroy her home ‘for the best’.
Four black numbers replace her name,
Three more relatives die in vain.
“The numbers do not matter,” he says all the time,
“The numbers do not matter, this isn’t a crime.”
Two pieces of clothing for the rest of her life,
One radical behind this eternal grief and strife.
Even long after she can no longer feel,
It’ll take forever for her scars to heal.
“The numbers do not matter!” says all who are free
Whilst six million souls furiously disagree.
