Mamas Trip
Mamas going on a trip,
she promises she won't be gone long
She's visiting a land far far away
Perhaps you've heard of it in a song
Mamas going on a trip,
She's packed a suitcase for ten days
She says there's kids my age there
And rainbows and sunshine rays
I hope Mama doesn't replace me
Because that's what some Mamas do
But apparently there's people of every age
Newborns, nine or sixty two
Mamas going on a trip
But she isn't taking a plane
Or a train or boat or car
She'll be walking sun or rain
It'll be a long journey
But Mama doesn't get scared
If anything she's brave
I know she'll be prepared
Mamas going all the places
I've always wanted to see
And so days leading up to her trip
I ask if she'll bring me
Mama smiles and says
Wise words that Mamas speak
Honey, this is a trip you'll take one day
And I'll only be gone a week
Mamas going on a trip
I hope she gets me a gift
It doesn't to be pricey
And if I get one, it'll be my fifth
But I hope it's something special
Because she's going far
Like maybe a ring of Saturn
Or a piece of a wishing star
It's been a couple weeks now
And Mamas still not back
I asked Daddy when she'll come
He says soon, but I don't count on that
A year after that question
Daddy says Mamas not coming home
She made a life elsewhere
With a new house to roam
Been a few years now
And I still don't feel well
Since then I've gotten wiser
Learned the difference of heaven and hell
So if I leave for a trip now
Where will this soul of mine go?
Will I be with Mama?
If I don't try I'll never know
Mama went in a trip
She said one day I'd see
So since I'm sad, I'll go now
At least she'll be there with me
