Shuttin' Up
I am not falling back or shuttin’ up!
I am not falling back or shuttin’ up!
Hey, yo, I’m all that I’ve got,
I can’t throw away my only shot.
I am not falling back or shuttin’ up!
I’ma just an average junior in high school.
I may act sly, but don’t cry. I ain’t gonna bi’ choo.
I may just blow your minds by actin’ kinda cool.
I gotta act wild just to be seen,
if ya know what I mean. If not, here’s a clue.
I’m just an undesirable freak,
A dull piece of copper, lower than a mere pauper,
With as much health as a Burger King Whopper.
Only sixteen and I’ve learned to show it.
As I get older I’d hoped I’d throw it, although it’s
Taken over, gotten me good, lit me up like firewood.
Waited for me to smolder, turn me into a black boulder.
But, gotcha, I’ll foughtcha, ‘til I get the upper hand,
Show ya what I can do and help ya to understand.
My name is: N A, T H, A N, Ghisolfo,
I take, the fall fo’, no one, schmuck!
Don’t get it? Stuck? Well, you’re outta luck.
Be lucky you aren’t sucky like a broken truck.
Understandably, you can’t keep up with me.
I run circles around those who decide to challenge me.
You can’t walk away from this with dignity.
Just step off, and I’ll finish ya off quickly!
Kapiche me? (Your brain register English, si?)
This is what I say to those who act cocky.
I’ve already suffered and been around, you see.
I’m filled with glee, roastin’ your butt. Naturally!
(Chorus twice)
Some people are like glow sticks,
Snap ‘em hard, shake ‘em, they light up,
No mistake, with no fight up.
What do I say? They supposed to be smart?
A fancy talker? Or slower, than a granny with a walker?
I ain’t shuttin’ up!
Hey yo, I’m an English nerd,
Can spell or write any pre-existing word.
Can form off a sentence, give it double meaning,
My knowledge is high streaming,
Hey, why your ears steaming?
I ain’t shuttin’ up!
But I can’t ever be sastified,
Until I know that one’s tried to ensure Trump has died.
Pull the trigger, I’ll stop and snigger,
Knowin’ America’s free from the pathetic monarchy,
Of the golden haired foolery.
I ain’t shuttin’ up!
Hey, woah, woah, wait. Look how I’m talkin’.
Speakin’ super fast and sendin’ many people gawkin’.
I’ve gone mad, I’ve got to be calmed down.
No one can tell a verb from a noun.
I’m sorry if y’all have show a frown.
I am shuttin’ up!
No, whom I kidding? There’s no hate.
All I see is gold, and I feel great.
Why’d I question my fate, I got enough on my plate.
This group ought to know they watch the best in state.
Why would the world be hurled to fury at this rate?
It allows awesomeness everywhere; that’s it’s best trait.
Is a person too afraid to step out and even give a try?
Everyone must get a shot, or they deserve to die!
Oh, is that a bit too much?
Sometimes I can’t control emotions, go over the top,
I’ve never been taught when to stop.
I hope that I’ve made y’all proud.
Aw, if I didn’t I wouldn’t have performed this loud!
Still though,
I fear the world’s death so much it’s become natural and queer.
Where can it go from here? Peace? War? Will a new empire appear?
If we advance ourselves too much, will there be nowhere left to steer?
Why are others calm in times so severe?
See, I never thought time’d fly so fast,
When our brains understand, another minute has passed.
Watch everybody, they have a blast, they party and laugh,
Sore on one half. Yet, I try to make everyday like it’s my last.
Scratch that.
There’s no worry for the future in the present.
We must reach out further for every day to be pleasant.
If ya feeling down, remember, ya ain’t stupid.
Throw away the frown, fly in the air with Cupid.
Expand out your horizons, there’s somethin’ to see.
Either a pathetic loser, or a genius with an IQ of 140.
You all worried about dates, and how to dribble a ball,
When you should care about life and standin’ tall!
I know you peeps havin’ fun while ya can,
And I ain’t one to reprimand,
But, act now, or your life’ll be bland.
We need to be one and support to the end.
Has another minute passed? What’s around the bend?
I speak with logic and statements,
My thoughts are nostalgic with attainments,
All my ideas stream high placements.
I may leave ya with bad taste in ya puddin’ cup,
But I’m Nathan Ghisolfo, and I ain’t shuttin’ up!!

This is a rap I wrote back in my junior year of high school called "Shuttin' Up". It is supposed to be set to the style of "My Shot" from Hamilton. Back when I was very much into writing raps, song lyrics, poems, etc., Hamilton was a large role model for me. I wrote this rap following "My Shot"'s beat and lyric guidelines (number of syllables, etc.) to make it sound as naturally flowing as possible. It is basically just an over-the-top glorified poem of myself and how awesome I am to boost my self-esteem, which had been plummeting at the time I wrote this. I am still very impressed with this rap that I'd like for everyone to be able to read it!
