May Boatwright drifts away

in the river where she lay

Youngest sister of the three

only wanted to be set free

April was her other half

She was her twin

she made her laugh

Although her twin was depressed and sad

she had her family to make her glad

But because the temperament was no fun

April shot herself with a loud shotgun

May Boatwright drifts away

in the river where she lay

Youngest sister of the remaining three

only wanted to be set free

Since the time, May’s a depression prone

removes herself to spend time alone

Singing Oh Susanna when she’s down

never wants to be around

You may find her by the Wailing Wall

where she inserts her sorrows all in all

Writing her thoughts on paper strips

she can taste her tears on her plump black lips

May Boatwright drifts away

in the river where she lay

Youngest sister of the remaining three

only wanted to be set free

May’s cared for by the other two

Drying her tears

together like glue

August and June give love and support

hoping that she will be a good sport

But when Zach is arrested on the spot

Mays depression goes over the top

She flees the pink house, into the woods

Where no one could save her

No one could

Family and friends look for May

left and right, every which way

Walking along the river bank

is where August stopped and slowly sank

Beneath the surface with a stone on her chest

lay May Boatwright's body, where she lay and rest

Eyes wide open

palms bobbed up and down

Her dress fanned out, and swayed around

May Boatwright drifts away

in the river where she lay

Youngest sister of the three

only wanted to be set free.
