it's breath against breath,
his bare chest screaming let's-
keep it together now.
"i don't want to leave," she says
her pouting lips go to his head
but with calm rains come storms
and he's better off half dead.
he's the strongest thing for miles
she can see right through his smile and now
her bruises and her ear for tact
make it hard for him to turn his back.
you don't wear his charm,
oh no,
baby she's got him in his palm
he sees everything that i can't see,
liquor in his eyes and
his heart on his sleeve.
