He's Not In There Anymore
So now I’m sitting here,
in my bedroom all alone
with your picture on my desk
right beside the telephone.
you dared to come and see me
with your ego dressed in black
you said this is the “new you”
but I just need the old you back.
I can’t tell him that I need him
But I’ve been knocking at his door
I know it looks like he’s standing there
But he’s not in there anymore.
She’ll treat you well, she’s my best friend,
you’ve made it clear, we’re through,
Yet here I sit, at home alone
just thinking about you.
And maybe I deserve no more
he said it’s for the thrill,
I loved him and I never said it
Now I never will.
He said he cared, he seemed so true
so thoughtful and carefree,
you can’t be the one I used to know
you couldn’t have loved me.
You thought that you could trick me
with your “similar”’s and tones,
and that empty shell you’re hiding in
that used to be his home
He said he’d always be there
but that was all before,
for my sake I have to believe,
that he’s not in there anymore.
I can’t tell him that I need him
But I’ve been knocking at his door
I know it looks like he’s standing there
But he’s not in there anymore.
