Relief
I close my eyes and breathe
And slowly leave my chair
Floating up into the sky
The voices fading into wind
My heartbeat slows down
And my thoughts stop their racing
As I pass the clouds
Into clear open air
When I’m up here
The monsters can’t get me
Stress guilt and fear
They melt away from me
And I feel only peace
And light breezes
Caressing my body
And carrying me away
Chorus:
Life below me fades into a fog
And I have no fear
I am not afraid
I just feel relief
I don’t have to worry
Because here I belong
And no one is looking for me
They never know I’m gone
And I can stay up here for however long I want
Because while I’m up here
I’m still down there
And I float away
Into the distance
Where will I go?
The possibilities are endless
And looking around
There’s nobody here but me
And the places I’m going
Are all from my dreams
I try to figure out
Why there familiar to me
It’s like driving down the road
And realizing you’re alone
(Chorus)
And I wish I didn’t have to spend so much time
Up here
I wish I was happy with the way it is
Down there
Some times I can’t breathe
And I need the air
So I just give in
And leave my chair
(Chorus
