Don't Lie and Say It Doesn't Matter
Saw you the other day
Said things like
I liked the way you cut your hair
How’s your mom?
Ready for school?
Beating round the bush much?
We were best friends
You were the closest person to my heart
Don’t lie and say it doesn’t matter
Don’t lie and say it doesn’t hurt
Because it does more than anything else
And I can’t stand to look into that face I used to love, anymore
Oh, oh, that hurts
Oh, oh, that hurts
Oh, oh, that hurts
I remember sitting and giggling
Our laughs were lighting up the world together
We knew all each other’s secrets
And we’d promised not to tell
Our mothers knew each other so well
So many hours that we spent together
Happiest hours of my life
Even now, after all of this, I have no regrets
We were best friends
You were the closest person to my heart
Don’t lie and say it doesn’t matter
Don’t lie and say it doesn’t hurt
Because it does more than anything else
And I can’t stand to look into that face I used to love, anymore
Oh, oh, that hurts
Oh, oh, that hurts
Oh what happened?
Where’d the love go?
Why don’t we talk anymore?
Why is that after I saw you, after all that small talk and awkward silences, I walked away crying?
You never made me cry before.
When you care about someone, they don’t cry for you.
So why was I crying last Saturday night? Because of you.
Where’d it go?
I miss you so much honey
Miss you so much
Miss those long summer days when the highlights in your hair gleamed in the sun
And we splashed through creek
Two barefoot teens
Carefree and footloose
Oh we danced in the rain
Our hearts were one
Where’d it all go?
You were the closest person to my heart
Don’t lie and say it doesn’t matter
Don’t lie and say it doesn’t hurt
Because it does more than anything else
And I can’t stand to look into that face I used to love, anymore
Oh, oh, that hurts
So badly
I miss the you I thought I knew.
I miss the you that I once knew.
But most of all, I wish I could go back in time.
Once again see you smile, at me, and mean it.
I miss the you I thought I knew.

:) I'm glad I did! It's amazing to see through a poem what the poet is like! And for me to be able to tell was through out your powerful words I really liked it! your work is very special in a way! :) great job!
And you're welcome :)! I'm glad I did ..
To be successful, you got to take negatives and positives.. Honestly.. The beginning of this poem wasnt as powerful as the ones I've already read, but by the time I finished it I saw where it was going.
It's for sure, very deep and sad. You seem like you write from all your heart because it's deep powerful with meanings also messages to someone maybe?
:) very good!
This is a very emotional song for me, because it perfectly describes my experience with the loss of two very important people in my life, and the situation at the end of it. Hopefully you will get as much out of it as I do.
