You Knew That I Wanted To Live
You clipped the wings that I would use to fly
And when I asked you to buy me an autumn sky
You said that it was too cheap and when I asked why
You said that you liked the finer things in life
That you wouldn’t settle for less than what I give
You weren’t fooled by the sevens in my eyes
You knew they were just snakes in disguise
You knew that I had charmed them to dance
Because I didn’t want any sympathy
You knew this was a game a person could only lose
If they chose to lose
But you chose to never walk away from me
You knew that deep down I wanted to live
Because as long as I live you know that I am able to give
What your heart knows doesn’t have a price
You are the person who continued to gamble on
Even when everyone else believed
That my thoughts and feelings about life
Were nothing but loaded dice
You weren’t fooled by my sudden goodbyes
You knew they were cries of help in disguise
And when I said I didn’t love you
That I didn’t want your help anymore
You took one look into my eyes
And saw images of you leaving my life
You knew that they were the smiles of fear
You chose to never walk away from me
You knew that deep down I wanted to live
Because as long as I live you know that I am able to give
What your heart knows doesn’t have a price
You are the person who continued to gamble on
Even when everyone else believed
That my thoughts and feelings about life
Were nothing but loaded dice
You were there for me when life got hard
You were there for me when life was good
You never once walked out of my life
Even when I tried to convince you that you should
You knew that I deep down I wanted to live
You believed in what my heart could give
