Just Another Day
Just another day
in the loneliest lifetime
Just another wave
of my fading light
Just another waste
of someone else's time
This pen and ink will crumble
Before these eyes, this heartless face
And all the thoughts return to memory,
And learn to rest on artless grace,
Artless grace.
So I will sing,
Sing my song again,
And I'll write when I can't control my pen
Because sometimes the thing
most precious to me
Can't be packaged up
in poetry.
Like the bright red leaf
when the sky is grey
And the way the sky seems
to call my name;
I can't explain…
Just another swing
in the fight of indifference
Just another deed
in the halls
Of all the mighty kings:
Another want,
another want inside a world of need
So I will sing,
Sing my song again,
And I'll write when I can't control my pen
Because sometimes the thing
most precious to me
Can't be packaged up
in poetry.
Like her bright red lips
under eyes so grey
And the way that they used
to call my name;
I can't explain…
And I can feel
the rhythm of
the river rising
And the rain
is falling down
and everything
is dancing to the sound
tonight:
Its not a flowing but a moment,
and I'm
d r o w n i n g
So I will sing,
Sing my song again,
And I'll write when I can't control my pen
Because sometimes the thing
most precious to me
Can't be packaged up
in poetry.
Like the bright red leaf
when the sky is grey
And the way the sky seems
to call my name;
I can't explain…
Like her bright red lips
under eyes so grey
And the way that they used
to call my name;
I can't explain…
Just another day
the slightest shade of night:
Another grey that won't
fade to black or white
Another way
to run away
from another fight.
