The Ice King and the Little Bird
The day is cold on a crowded city street
A child stands shivering by the side of a wall
A shaken man with his face held in his hands
And whatever relief they find is small
A handful of words, a final fleeting glance
It doesn’t take much to burn the eyes in your mind
And years pass over, you grow older still
Another glance and the light still shines
The ice king and the little bird
A life lost, a voice heard
Is it easier to not feel at all
You never fly, you never fall
Easier sometimes to face life alone
Is it better to be made of skin and bone than stone?
A deal is made on a crowded city street
Do you think he notices the fear in her eyes
But you have to be strong when you’re in the devils arms
And morals mean nothing if you want to survive
But it’s not the same when they meet again that night
And touches are gentle for the very first time
And yes it’s rushed, and it takes some time to trust
To break down the walls that you’ve built all of your life
The ice king and the little bird
A life lost, a voice heard
Is it easier to not feel at all
You never fly, you never fall
Easier sometimes to face life alone
Is it better to be made of skin and bone than stone?
And like all things something goes wrong
And there’s anger and words
And under handed, backhanded
Pain inflicted, this is power,
Say you want me, please forgive me
Just like we always said you’d do
Those eyes of ice, a broken wing
What have you done now monster?
A couple is talking on a sunlight city street
The kind of apology that eyes understand
And ears pass over, you grow older still
The difference of a family in the life of a man
The ice king and the little bird
A life lost, a voice heard
Is it easier to not feel at all
You never fly, you never fall
Easier sometimes to face life alone
Is it better to be made of skin and bone than stone?
