Stare
*I wasn’t sure on how to label each stanza of the song, so I put letters to organize it so that you can understand which stanzas have the same/similar rhythms.
A
I am trying to fight this pain.
I am trying to look the other way.
But I see you burning in my eyes
Every time I close them.
B
You and her
Away from me.
Me at home
Alone crying.
You and I
Not working out.
I feel myself fading.
A
I am trying to hide my scars
From the death of your great love.
I don’t want you to see me hurt
‘Cause that’d mean you’d won the war.
C
Can’t you see that I am falling?
I am falling to the sound,
The sound of my heart failing.
I just want to know:
Did you love me at all?
B
You and her
Away from me.
Me at home
Alone crying.
You and I
Not working out.
I feel myself fading.
A
I am trying to fight this feeling
That’s building up inside of me.
After my sights rest on your betrayal
I just want to be let go and fly free.
B
You and her
Away from me.
Me at home
Alone crying.
You and I
Not working out.
I feel myself fading.
D
But I’m trapped in this pain
‘Cause I still love you.
I’m attached to your heart
‘Cause I can’t leave you.
But I watch as you walk away far.
And I stare;
It’s all I can do,
Stare
As I reach for you.
