"When you get knocked down, you get right back up."

The little girl who wears all black,
Who's face is small and pail
The one who's lips form a cracked smile,
The one that will always fail.

At least that's what they say,
The ones who stare and laugh.
When she did nothing to them,
She's the one they snicker at.

You are more than what they say you are,
You are more than what your appearance says,
You are capable of better things with that huge heart
That hides inside your aching chest.

Oh, you'll never make it,
You'll never be happy in life,
C'mon girl, get real, wake up,
You'll never survive.

With that black hair
What are you going to do amuse the world to death?
No one will take that,
Look at you, you're a mess

No! You are more than what they say you are,
You are more than what your appearance says
You are capable of better things with that huge heart,
That hides within your aching chest.

She tells herself everything will be ok,
As she tries not to cry
I can do this,
I'll be just fine.

So she begins to write,
And the more she writes the happier she becomes,
The more she believes what those kids said was impossible
Can be done.

And her heart and imagination
Become one.

You are more than what they say you are,
You are more than what your appearance says,
You are capable of better things with that huge heart
That hides behind your aching chest.

The very thing they said she couldn't do, has been done.
She rises, her body taking in her wings as she walks with dignity and worth
When she rises on the stand
To receive her award.

For the years to come,
Her future will be brighter,
Brighter than the clothes she wears,
Her fate will be more
Than the laughter of her peers.

See? You ARE more than what they said you were,
You are more than what your appearance said,
As you write for the rest of the world to see,
Just what you proved to them.

Yeah, the little girl who wears all black,
Who's face is small and pail
The one who's smile is brighter, wider,
The girl who didn't fail.

Because you are more than what anyone says about you,
You are more than what you look like says,
You are capable of so much better things with that beating heart
That hides inside your chest.
