May Not
I may not write as eloquently,
As Poe or Angelou,
Yet little do I care,
For my words are strong and true,
I may not be so pivotal,
As the Bard or Hughes,
But I must attempt this challenge,
To capture life's hues,
I may not have the wit or word,
Of poets come before me,
But I can only try,
To continue writing poetry.

This piece was inspired upon beginning our poetry unit in school. As we read about different poets, I saw that I did not write like all of them. Though at first I tried to imitate them, I realized I am not them and though I may not be like the poets come before me, the only thing I can do is to continue writing.
