Our World
Nature’s little teardrops patter at the windowpane
The lightning cracks, lighting up the sky
And in a world so full of hate what is there left to gain
I can’t survive if I’m not allowed to cry
But one day there will be a day
When I am not afraid to stray
Off of the beaten path
And I’ll turn away as they laugh
And I will not fear any of them now
Not from sun up and to sun down
And I’ll hold your hand and try to bring you too
So I’ll wait for- I’ll wait for
Days, or months, or years until
You finally reach out and take my hand
And you will find that- you will find that
Even though it’s cold
The sun and wind and rain command
And I’m still taking time to learn myself
That the whole world belongs to ourselves
Come and hold my hand and walk with me and stand up
So I’ll wait for- I’ll wait for
Days, or months, or years until
I finally learn I can make a stand
And you will find that- you will find that
Even though it’s cold
I know that this is pain we can withstand

This piece came to me while sitting at the table. Just an upbeat song about how the world, while still full of pain and hate, is ours to change and make better.
