Baptism
My body splashed underwater
And froze still in the middle of the pool
To waltz with the buoyancy and totter
Through the memories of my life true.
The lime and sky-blue lights mingled
Before my eyes like magic.
The water embraced me and engulfed
Every tear and even my logic.
The magnificent life seemed but
A breath away. So far to reach.
But in me, it was that sought
To give life in abundance so rich.
I wished to stay underwater a bit more
But my pastor feared I might drown to breathe no more.
