the final goal
This is it it's all we get just one shot
No second chances shall it be our year?
A whistle tweet like a bird wakes my ear
As it calls me to battle in my spot
Just you and I same battle just one shot
Like gladiators covered in our gear
Sticks in hand everything ends and starts here
One will fail one will prevail for the shot
Ba bang ice hits my face like little blades
I failed no no get up the times not run
I rise and the puck flys to my sticks blade
I’m off just you and I I shoot ba brung
A sound so sweet I collapse and fade
It's a goal my final goal now im done.

This sonnet is about a hockey player's final goal at the final game of the season and her journey to that final goal mentally and physically. When she scores the goal it signifies the end of the game and the end of the season. They won but it's the end of the players time with this team, the end of this dream that is a hockey career. It's time to move on and grow up. As for many girls once your minor hockey career was over, so was your hockey career. Until now, many girls have had to let that dream go.
