The Sun and The Flower
I love you not as Oreos love milk,
or as peanut butter loves jelly.
I love you not as cheese loves crackers,
or as spaghetti may love sauce.
I love you as a flower loves the sun,
because love is more, than wanting.
Love is needing, and depending,
it is a risk I will take, for only you.
As the sun is nothing, without the flower,
and the flower nothing, without the sun,
my soul is nothing, without you in it.
In my dreams, our souls are joined for life,
but, in my nightmares, I have no soul to join
because, without you in it, my soul is without a purpose.
