I Love You Defenition
"I love you"
What does that mean?
Its not as easy
As it seems
Three simple words
When they come out
What, exactly,
Are they about?
"I" is first
Well, this is you
Singular
A person too
It signifies
That you yourself
Mean something
To someone else
A sort of vow
Unknowingly spoken
That you, yourself
In this small token
Do not care
What the others say
As a one, you'll
Say it anyway
"Love" is next
This frightful word
So many meanings
So often heard
The love you say
Could mean so
Many things
The other knows
Do you mean love
As love in lust?
Based on beauty
Scorned in trust?
A love that burns
Yet just as fleeting
As the next
Pretty face seen?
Is it love
As one loves fame?
Using you
To help their name?
Is it a bond
You both share
So this word
Shows that you care?
Is it spoken
For the first time?
Sweet confession
No reason or rhyme?
Is it a feeling
You can't explain
But this one word
Makes it plain?
You feel so much
Your heart so full
Yet the words won't come
Its too wonderful
Your heart is ready
To be poured out
Your spirit wanting
To scream, to shout
And yet now
When your lips open
"Love" is what comes
Your heart has spoken
"You" is last
The final word
Yet it is first
It's what they heard
Not a selfish,
Foolish name
Something new
That brooks no shame
Your fragile word
To them is said
As an offering
On their head
You say to them
That they are yours
They can't help it
Their part ensures
A sacred, blessed,
Perfect thing
That to you, to them
You mean something
You set aside
Yourself to them
They are special
Your heart's true gem
And whether they
Like it or not
Your heart is theirs
Helplessly caught
No turning back
The word is spoken
Its their turn
To return the token
So, really, how
Is this pronounced?
Such simple words
Such simple sounds
Binding you, yourself,
And a word of endless sum
And another person's heart
Together as one
Whether it
Is night or naught
It is never
Easily forgot
"I love you"
A simple phrase
What does it mean?
This tiny maze?
Take care what
You really mean
It's not as easy
As it seems
