Tall Tales
The tales that I’ve been told
are bedtime story stuff
Happy ever afters
made of sugar, cream and fluff
No one speaks of losing
life’s old weathered game
of unrequited lovers
and a young girls bitter break
I’d grow my hair for a hundred years
to let it down for you
If only it were so simple
a princess’s dream come true
I’ve no fairy mother
or twelve o’clock to spare
Not a spell breaking kiss
or a beast tamer fair
You see there is no story
that speaks of you and I
never brought together
our end leaves tear filled eyes
Oh Romeo where art thou?
My heart cries out this night
for a star crossed lover alone
is the pettiest of crimes
