Good Morning Mr. Henderson
Good Morning Mr. Henderson
Making sure everything that was neat and nifty
Tulip snaps on her ever so large clip-on earrings,
dolls up her face like she did in nineteen-twenty.
Rushing slightly for it would soon be twelve thirty
Half-past noon, Mr. Henderson would be hosting
She sat prim; he was a divine and smashing man
Mr. Henderson appears smiling, “Good Morning”
She was always there, since 1920, a sincere fan.
Lola arrives from school, throws off her sweater
“You ought to be ashamed! In front of Henderson?”
“ For heaven’s sake it’s only Telly grandmother!”
Lola sighs, could old Tulip ever betray this delusion?
“Please excuse her behavior!” Tulip whispers to the glowing television.
Mr. H continues “Coming up on today’s show, the flappers’ fashion!”
