Unnamed Poem
Live, or try to
You have no choice
But to persist, to
Endure – or to at least tell yourself you do
Live, or try to
That is all you can do
All your paths are blocked; too many
Twists and turns turn into barricades
Your thoughts intertwine –
Not vine-like, not intricately graceful,
But rather monstrous and
Irrevocably tangled
Until they have no worth,
No value or purpose
But to serve as reminders of your faults
Reminders of how many there really are
Live, or try to –
Try to survive as you have
Try to
Rely on memories, and pretend you are alive
Live, or try to
As you always have and
Always will,
You know
For no reason but
Your endless
Shame and boundless
Pride.
