Confessions
I know that you miss her,
I hear it in your voice.
And now I’ve got all my answers,
I can make my choice.
I’ve learned the past is the past,
And that is where it should stay.
It does not always last,
And sometimes life gets in the way.
I can only hope I mean as much,
As she does to you.
I’m giving you all of me,
Hoping you’re ready for someone new.
I have faith in you,
And I can see that you’ve changed.
I believe in all you do,
And you’ve taken this in exchange.
For the life you used to lead,
One you weren’t proud of.
And everything seems to impede,
In your quest to find love.
I don’t feel I could match up,
To everything she is and was.
Please tell me that I’m wrong,
Am I wrong? I see my flaws.
There are so many things I do not know,
And so many things I wish you knew.
All I know is I don’t want you to go,
But there’s nothing more I can do.
My heart is on my sleeve,
And I will never leave.
But I don’t want your past,
To steal your present and leave us last.
