Love's Growth
I cannot believe what has come of this crush,
we would laugh and play and run and explore.
I did not understand why I felt such a rush,
The years soon passed and I learned there’d be more.
Flowing calendar pages led to a car,
You took me on dates where we’d flirt and smile.
Then colleges chosen so we weren’t too far
Future unknown as we counted the miles.
I looked down at you, the ring in your hand
Thoughts of kids and a house and me as your bride.
For once things turned out the way that I planned,
Soon others behind with you at my side.
“Too young to know better,” people would say,
Yet we’re growing together, to this day.
