A Simple Snack
My hunger at days end is unruly
A simple snack is all I wish to find
I search the fridge for something, I’m drooling
Yet all I see is a lonely cheese rind
I move to the freezer, hope running low
To my dismay we have just frozen peas
I was hoping it would not be like so
Though to these kernels, I will not appease
Of to the cupboard with hope of more chance
But what I see is just more of the same
My hunger is striking; I’m in a trance
It is my parents I direct my blame
Alas! I find a cracker in a nook
Perhaps it is time to learn how to cook
