Once bothered by the eerie winter,
It clawed and creeped into my being,
Out, I tell you, you freeze my soul,
You grievance of a season,
the opposite of the epitome of healing,
You chill my spirit and cool my face,
Until all I sense is dark in taste,
I loathed you, oh season of despair,
How you swoop, how you dare
to steal my joy, happiness and sun,
Bringing with it black and fear, death and gun,
Now I respect you, the deadener of feelings,
You strip my conscience, dull our beings,
Now I can forget that horrid night,
How she took her life with that gun,
Oh mother's plight
