The World I Knew
There once was peace within the land of hope
Where garden came to flower with the light
And children spun and danced the colored slope
The morning glowed a soft and even white
There once was hope within the land of joy
Where people came to lend a voice in song
And pray for futures bright and strength employ
Those living within evil, turn from wrong
There once was joy within the land of peace
Those in distress were placed in better care
The neighbors smiled, the elders were at ease
And problems never seemed to show up there
But years have passed and winter comes too soon
The story of a world I knew in June
