The Mask
Afraid of what people might think of me
I put on a mask, hiding this being
Locking away everything, I burry the key
Myself nobody is truly seeing
Smiling away the tears that fall
I stay hidden behind a plain white sheet
Showing no sign of weakness at all
What must I do to accomplish this feat
My pain and tears will be kept at bay
No matter how hard they try to leak
Forever behind this mask I shall stay
My future mistakes I'm trying not to seek
The last of my sunshine has been chased off
And the darkness is all I have left
Oh how I wish this blackness I could doff
For all it is, a burden I must heft
Go right ahead and take this mask of mine
The darkness will fade, so watch how bright I shine
