You Are Everything
A phrase that gets thrown around.
Losing its beckoning shine
like overused silverware.
But, you are my everything.
I’m don’t say you fill my mind,
though it’s true. I’m trying
to find words that will describe
how your essence follows me.
I’m trying to say that you
make up my world. I’m saying
you are everywhere, always.
I can’t get you off my mind.
Those rivers that make up my veins,
who cradle my happiness,
they carry, as you carry, a
playful spirit, and calm mind.
The pine trees that blossom in
my soul, the green and the brown
that make up their proud stature,
I see them in your hazel eyes.
By now, perhaps you can see
the words the wind blows away.
When I say, “You are everything”
I mean, you are my everything.
