Expectations

Although this is such a short poem, it carries a lot of meaning. “Expectations weigh/ on my shoulders like barbells,” are the first two lines, and already I can feel this. As a teenager, we are expected to act like adults, yet we are often treated like childeren still. Some teenagers have more expected of them than others as well. There are kids who are born into families that can supply anything they need as it comes and goes, but there also kids like me who have to put work above anything, even our sports. It’s difficult because I’m scheduled six days a week, I literally don’t have any time for homework but yet I’m expected to get good grades. This is difficult becuase in order to go to college I need a lot more money, but I also need good grades? So just these few lines definitely are a very good explanation of my life.
