Ouray, Colorado
In Southwestern Colorado lies a small town by the name of Ouray. Ouray has been dubbed the “Switzerland of America,” due to its natural alpine environment and mountainous scenery. All four seasons have their distinct weather patterns; Summers are warm with brief thunderstorms, Autumns are cool with rain, Winters are cold and snowy, early spring brings the most snowfall, and late spring tends to be the driest time of the year. The town’s main street is littered with locally owned businesses. One of the towns main attractions are the many hiking trails, each unique. Many of these trails are near waterfalls, and in winter when these waterfalls freeze over, they are used for ice climbing. The mountainous habitat makes for good hiking. Box Canyon Falls, Ouray’s own wonder of the world, is easily accessible from two trails. One trail leads to an overhead view of the falls. The other trail leads to the bottom of the falls, 85 feet below the other trail.
