Caca Marron, one shade of the four different color henna hair dies at Lush, is a healthy and alternative way to dying your hair.  Lush is a company all about producing natural, healthy alternative bath, body, makeup, and hair products.  At about $28 a bar, it is well worth the price!

The henna hair dye comes in four different shades going from Caca Rouge to Caca Noir.  The one I used was Caca Marron, the second brightest shade.  When buying the hair dye, it was in a solid bar with six sections molded resembling a chocolate bar.  The bar can be a little flakey, at least that was my experience with the bar.  Also, it was kind of hard cutting the bar into sections and then cutting those sections into smaller pieces.  Make sure when you are cutting the bar up to be melted down that you are cutting with a sharp knife and on a cutting board.  You will most likely have leftovers from the henna hair dye bar, so when touch ups need to happen, you won’t need to go out and buy a whole new bar.

After waiting the maximum 4 hours with saran wrap around my head, the color after the dying process is amazing!  My hair was a dirty blonde before I dyed it; it turned into a vivid natural red color that has lasted since August.  All the henna hair dyes will have an element of red in it, except the Caca Noir, due to the henna coming from Iran.  You will have to touch up the roots a couple months after dying due to hair growth.  My hair grows quite fast so I need to touch up every two or two and a half months.  Fading is also a natural part of this product.  Since the hair dye is made from all natural ingredients, the fading will take a little bit longer than other hair dyes, and it won’t be an abrupt change when the color starts to fade.  I find this to be a strength for this product.

When mixing the hair dye, it takes a while to melt the henna down into a paste like consistency.  Since it was my first time using henna, it took me longer than the average time to melt the henna.  I suggest a ban maire, a system containing two pots, one filled with boiling water and the other with the henna, would work for melting the henna.  Just make sure to add water as well so that the mixture has a batter like consistency.
All in all, I would give this product 4 out of 5 stars because the end product was as expected.  The only downside to this product was the mess it left behind after the whole process takes place.  I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants to repair their hair from the damage of constant dying or if they don’t want to ruin their hair but want to dye it.
