Mississippi Trial, 1955
The Mississippi Trial of 1955 was based on a true historical event that pushed for the equal rights movement. The author of this book, Chris Crowe, made a clear image of the characters personalities and the role they are trying to play in the book. I feel in some areas of the book it was very difficult to analyze who was speaking and got very confused with some of the sentences. I did enjoy how the author of this book provided suspense up to the climax of the plot, making it very entertaining. I loved how the author could get the reader hooked into the book very close to the beginning of the book. The plot structure of this book was very easy to follow except a few times where dialogue was confusing but other than that plot was very easy to keep up with. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys reading and learning about american history. This book really does give you an image about the actual event that occured and I feel that is a very important element all historical books should have for them to be entertaining. I felt the characters played their roles perfectly. The characters are very diverse and show a lot of importance to the plot of the story. The theme of this book was an historical event emphasising a tragic murder. In this book the main character, Hiram Hillburn was visiting relatives in greenwood. One of my chosen quotes is,“Greenwood was exactly how I remembered it”(Crowe 228). In this quote I felt resembles how at a young age it is harder to see what goes on around you and when growing up you start realizing how the world is really like. One more quote I would like to mention is, “ I’ve been trying to get back to greenwood for seven years”(Crowe 101).This quote is very interesting because at the end he is wanting to go back to his home town, Arizona. This book overall was very entertaining and enjoyable. Learning about history to me is very enjoyable and that is why I choose this book.
