When I read this book i thought,"Oh wow this book is very boring." But as I kept reading until the end and it was an amazing and incedible novel.
Lakshmi is the main cahracter, she is a little girl who was poor and has lived in a little villiage up in the mountains. She was a very smart and helpful little girl. She always work hard when she was a kid. As she was a little thirdteen year old girl, she was also a maid to help pay off the house that they're living in because her mom could pay for it. Lakshmi would have to be a maid her whole life, if she couldn't pay for it.
As Lakshmi was a little girl she had to be the bigger person to help her family. Her family put all the pressure on her.

I'm a 9th grader writing this novel about a little girl who was forced to be a maid to help her family pay off the house that they were living in. This novel was a great novel and I recommend for you to read it.
