Set in London, Frances Hodgson Burnett's novel, A Little Princess, is
The story of a young girl who was sent to Miss Minchin's school.
Over there she meets different kinds of people who are mean and nice to her. To me,
this book was interesting because so many different and exciting things happened
throughout the story.



The main character, Sara, is a generous young girl who stays in a seminary
school for young ladies. Sara is a very kind girl who, even though is rich, is also very
generous. She is quite queer to people, however, her friends and other people are amazed by
her behavior.



Since Sara's father is rich, Sara gets everything she wants in school.
Life is fancy for her until her father, Ralph Crew, dies. Her father is doing a business with
a trusted friend. He gives all his money from the business to a friend who takes it and runs away
with it. Sara's father dies when he realizes his money is gone. Since Sara has no inheritance from
her father now, she has nothing to pay for Miss Minchin's school. Miss Minchin then reveals
herself as having a wicked and cruel nature. Sara is forced to be a servant, and she has to live in
an attic.




One day, a new neighbor moves to the house right next to
Sara's attic. Sara is interested in her new neighbor because the man is an Indian.
Sara doesn't know that the Indian gentleman is the friend of her father who took
the money from him. One day, the Indian gentleman's monkey jumps to Sara's
attic. Sara goes to give the monkey back to the Indian gentleman. He starts
questioning her and realizes she is the daughter of his friend, Ralph Crew.
He tells Sara who he is and explains he didn't steal the money, and that
he thought he lost the money, so he ran away. The Indian gentleman says
Sara should live with him instead of living in the attic. He also has Sara's inheritance
and gives it back to her so Sara becomes rich again.



This book was quite entertaining to me. Lots of exciting things happened
throughout the story that made me want to read more and more. The part
of the story that was most interesting to me was when Ralph Crew finds out that
Sara is the girl he was looking for. That part was nice because it was exciting
to see how surprised he was to find out. I surely would recommend
this novel to other people because it is really interesting.
