Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon
I am an avid reader. I have read hundreds if not thousands of books and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin won a title. THE WORST!!! If you are into talking goldfish, live stone lions and an old man of the moon this is your story. Personally I am not into that sort of thing. The story is set in Ancient China. Minli is a young Chinese girl who struggles with her family’s poverty. The first 50 pages of the book consist of her father telling stories at the dinner table. It gets less bad and Minli goes on an adventure. If I had to rate this book I would give it a quarter of a star out of five stars. I think I might be being a little bit generous too. Although this book received a Rebecca Caudill and Newberry nominations it is horrid. Don’t let the awards fool you. Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is a slow paced boring story that has no climax or rising action. I recommend that you do not read this book.
