Un Lun Dun by China Mieville
China Mieville’s Un Lun Dun tells the exciting and suspenseful fantasy tale of Deeba, Zanna, a half-ghost, a talking book, and their quest to save the abicity UnLondon. Our protagonists, Deeba and Zanna, are best friends who stumble into the reverse city of London, UnLondon. An amusing cast of characters, including a half-ghost named Hemi, a talking book named Book, and a living milk carton by the name of Curdle, join these two on their quest to save the city from destruction. Though Zanna may be the “Chosen One,” neither Deeba nor Zanna know how to save the city. I love this book and did not want to put it down. It’s a creative story with plenty of twists and turns, and the flashes of humor and the marvelous artwork make this story even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
