The Diary of a Young Girl is one of the world's most read books. Discovered in the attic of the writer's father's office building, the diary was translated and published in English in 1952. Anne Frank is not only the main character, but also the author of this unforgettable true story. Born in Germany in 1929, she died in 1945 at the age 15. Written in a diary as letters to “Kitty,” her imaginary friend, Anne shares her life.

The book is incredibly effective, powerful, and beautiful. It opens your eyes and changes your point of view on many things. The book provides good information and a wonderful story. I cannot truly understand what Anne went through, but reading this book gave me a much better understanding of the Holocaust. As you read, you can feel the emotions Anne had. Experiencing her love, hate, fear, and other emotions really makes you think.

One of my favorite quotes is “Why do people have so little trust in one another? I know there must be a reason, but sometimes I think it's horrible that you can't ever confide in anyone, not even those closest to you.” It is a perfect example of how Anne felt. It is a question about how humans behave. Another entry that made me think is “It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.” She was able to see all the terrible things that were happening and still find the good in people. This truly amazes me.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves history and nonfiction. This is a truly amazing book. It's not only full of historical information, but it is also a great story. I hope that everyone who reads it finds as much joy as I did.
