Code Orange by Caroline B. Cooney, author of Face on a Milk Carton, is a

thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, once you get there. The beginning is

slow to pick up speed, but once it does, the book is hard to put down.

The story takes place in Boston with a boy named Mitty who finds 100-year-old

small pox scabs. Toward the beginning of the book, Mitty is a typical teen who is just

getting by in school. I guess that's one way most teenagers can relate. My favorite

character in the story is Derek, one of Mitty's best friends. Derek dreams of becoming an

F.B.I. agent or a detective. His sarcasm, reluctant attitude, and sense of humor will make

anyone want to be Derek's best friend, too.

Once all is said and done, I would give Code Orange a 6/10, but that doesn't

mean this won't be a 10/10 for some other thrill ride-seeking-reader.
