In the book, Something Wicked’s in Those Woods, Javi, the main character, moves in with his aunt, along with his little brother, Nico. But the occurrence of Nico awakes a childlike ghost, and they become best friends. Javi, however, isn’t fond of this idea. This interesting story with bone chilling cliffhangers is obviously trying to entertain the readers.
The story revolves around a Spanish speaking family, Javi and Nico, and their aunt, Amparo. The children move to California after their parents died in a car crash, about a month before. As Javi and Nico arrive, Javi notices something strange about the forest nearby, that’s when Nico starts acting strange, saying he is playing with a boy named Hammish. Amparo automatically thinks it’s one of his ‘imaginary friends’, but Javi thinks otherwise. Throughout the story, Javi is trying to make his aunt believe that Hammish is real, and not an imaginary friend; but it seems impossible.
In my opinion, the book was pretty good. It had a good plot that kept you reading; it was interesting. Some parts were better than others and more entertaining- while others seemed drawn out, or overly exaggerated. The ending seemed a bit quick, it didn’t really tell you what all happened afterwards.
I highly recommend this book, if you just want to pass some time. At first it didn’t really interest me, until I started reading it. As soon as I did, I couldn’t put the book down. Of course some parts were overly dramatic, or drawn out, but overall it was a good book.
This is a very interesting story, with bone chilling excitement, and cliffhangers around every corner. This book is highly recommended and great for any mystery readers.
