The Unwanted: A Memoir of Childhood by Kien Ngyuen
In the book, The Unwanted, by Kien Ngyuen, there were many things I found interesting that drew my attention to the story, but there were also parts of the book that caused me to lose interest as well. Some things in the book that caused me to become more interested were the overall setting of the story, which is in post-war communist Vietnam, and that this was a firsthand account of what happened after the fighting stopped. I liked these things because they helped me get a better understanding of what life was like for people at that time in Vietnam after the war had ended. Other parts of the book that made me feel like it was more difficult to read were that at times the story because very uninteresting to me and I felt like it became very boring. I feel that this happened several times over the course of the book, and while I think that the overall story was good, at times I did not enjoy it as much.
This book has a very interesting story, I don't read much but when I started reading this story it captured my attention. I would recommend this story to everyone who is interested in the Vietnam War, and also because the Ngyuen gives inspiration to never give up. The author also wrote the story in a way as to let the reader's feel and see what he went through. He added many details and imagery as to what he was feeling, where he was and everything that surrounded him.
