Victor Cruz was always a fighter. Many times in his life he was told you’re not “big enough” or you’re not “talented” enough and this light a fire under him. He used all the negativity in his life to follow his dreams of someday playing in the NFL. Once he was given an opportunity to shine he’s never looked back and proved many wrong.
Victor Cruz always made mistakes as a teenage like getting kicked out of college twice or not doing well enough on his SATs to get into the college he wanted to, but he continuously learned from them. Sure Victor Cruz made some wrong turns in his life like hanging out with the wrong friends or slacking off in school, but in the end he always had his mind set on one major goal in life…being in the NFL and fulfilling his dream of playing professional football.
He was also always overlooked. Whether it was high school or college or even the pros people always said this kid won’t ever be something but he proved them all wrong and look where he is now. This determination to really strive for excellence in life is helped by motivation and life lessons from people close to him like his mom, dad, uncle and even his coaches who wanted to see him succeed. In the end, Victor is living what some people call an American Dream. He has a cool job and a girlfriend he really cares about.

Everyone should read Out of the Blue if they get the chance. It has a great story line about a unique life of a kid growing up with tragedy all around him, but has it is compelling story and it pulls readers right in. Anyone who loves seeing people get overlooked and overcome all odds should be interested you. Not only that, but reading this book also shows you a hands on life experience because it is told in first person point of view.

This great auto-biography is about Victor Cruz and his struggles growing up and where he is now in life.Victor Cruz was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on November 11, 1986. The son of Michael Walker, an African-American firefighter, and Puerto Rican–born Blanca Cruz."In the city, a lot of crime happens, a lot of violence happens from time to time," he later said. "Growing up in Paterson wasn't the easiest thing." He was underated as at every level except now.I really like this book and it inspiring to me and would be to others. I would rate this book 4 stars
